First I want to show my first attempt at animation in 3D Max it's my little aquatic friend called Squiddy, he's wearing a funky dunce hat...
I'm finding 3D Max an awkward piece of software to figure out at the moment, maybe because I don't have it on my computer to use in my own time and I have to find the time to go into Waverley and set everything up out of my own environment. But once I get my head round it, which I am determined to do the aim is to create my own avatar and have him doing something for about 3 minutes. Ideas for the avatar haven't sprung to mind yet. It's a very strange assignment for me. I have spent my life trying to find out who I am, now I have to create an alter ego and display it in a virtual world for everyone to see.
I really enjoyed my lecture on Tuesday with Deb, it was very interesting. The assignment given is to predict the future. Yep... but specifically the future use of Moveable Projected Displays using Projector Based Tracking
We also discussed the history of Multimedia, which should now be called Hypermedia, a name that for some reason i'm not too fond of. Maybe because hyper is a term used for the internet/website design and I have never got on with web design.
Its history looks something like this:
Image
Text
Photography
Telephone
Film
Sound
Computing
Multimedia
Hypertext
Hypermedia
We also looked at a new game called Crysis with some incredible graphics. Check out some of these videos...
I think my radio show is going well. It's a pity not many people are listening to it however i'm going to get the actual numbers tomorrow or Friday
I'm addicted to Twin Peaks at the moment. It's a fantastic TV Series by David Lynch; one of my favourite directors. The stories and music walk hand in hand with each other. If you haven't already you should watch this. It's got me drinking black coffee once a day, at least!

Colour & Light
We have an assignment to find and analyse pictures that contain lots of colour and light. Straight away the images of some of my favourite artists began to appear in my mind.
Basquiat - Untitled (1981) - What I love about Basquiat I can't really explain. Only that his art is always full of colour. The following two Basquiat paintings are great examples of his use of colour.

Basquiat - Untitled (1984)

Monet - Water Lilies

Monet - Garden path at Giverny

Joan Miro - Prades, the Village

A Childhood Film
There were many films I saw as a child that stuck in my mind growing up, most of these were The Goonies, The Never Ending Story and Flight of the Navigator. But there was one film in particular that made such an impression on me, I have always wanted to find out what it was called in hope I could see it again, or hope to catch it on the off chance on TV.
This never sadly happened. But 16 years after first seeing it, I have found out what it's called and I've just bought the book!!
It is:
The Wolves of Willoughby Chase

Read a review of The Wolves Of Willoughby Chase from Channel 4 Film
Finally I can let part of my mind rest...
Music: The Pixies - Caribou
